Our project involves creating a heat recovery system from the condenser and absorber units to maximize energy efficiency. By capturing the waste heat produced during the cooling process, we can reuse it to drive the Humidification-Dehumidification (HDH) desalination process. This method ensures that the energy used in cooling is not wasted but rather redirected to enhance water purification, reducing the overall energy consumption
The heat recovery system works by transferring the excess heat from the condenser, which typically releases heat into the environment, and from the absorber, where heat is absorbed in the process of cooling the air. This recovered heat is then utilized to power the HDH system, effectively combining air cooling and water desalination in a hybrid manner
By incorporating this heat recovery strategy, we aim to significantly improve the system’s overall energy efficiency and further reduce its environmental impact.
